DIY Pine-Sol
So as much as I love the smell of the Pine-Sol you can find in almost every store, it can’t be healthy with all the chemicals in that product.
I was bored one day, scrolling on Pinterest and found a “homemade Pine-Sol” recipe!
I thought, what the heck, I’ll give it a go!
Now Sky Ranch has NO shortage of Pine Trees but I had just taken down our Christmas Tree, which happened to be a White Spruce Tree.
I decided to use some of the branch clippings from our Christmas Tree for this project!
Now I found that despite all the Lemon Essential Oil I added to try and dilute the vinegar smell, it didn’t alter the smell.
It’s very strong smelling so just take that into consideration lol
You can use any type glass jar, it doesn’t have to be a mason jar. I used a few jam jars.
As the Pine-Sol “ferments”, open your lid at least once a week so it’s easy to open.
So far on the countertops I’ve cleaned with the homemade Pine-Sol it worked well!
But I will try this recipe with Pine in the future!
There are a lot of different recipes online for homemade Pine-Sol, I just tried this one because it’s super easy!
Ingredients
Fresh Pine Needles
White Vinegar
Lemon Essential Oils
Quart Mason Jar with Lid
Coffee Filter or Cheesecloth Or mesh strainer
Instructions
Add pine cuttings to your mason jar and pack in enough so that the jar is full, but you can still put on a lid.
Fill the rest of the jar with white vinegar, covering the pine needles.
Add 5 drops lemon essential oil and screw on the lid.
Shake to mix, then place in the pantry to steep for at least 2 weeks.
Strain to remove pine needles and pour into spray bottle, 2/3 full. Fill remainder of bottle with filtered water and shake.
Notes
If vinegar smell is still overpowering at 2 weeks, steep for another 1-2 weeks.
